We’ve been involved with a very worthy campaign recently, supplying AV equipment for the launch of a new app, Hunch. This isn’t any old novelty app though. It’s a potentially life saving app, enabling users to anonymously tag a location if they suspect trouble is brewing. This will then alert other app users in, or […]
A few weeks ago at the beginning of the month, as with last year, we exhibited at the Event Production Show at Olympia London. Also in town that week though, was the Beast from the East, and so a lot of people were kept away from the show. If this was you, fear not! We […]

2018 has certainly begun with a bang, with our fourth day back in the office starting with a 3am wake up call so we could project onto the London Eye, for client Alton Towers. The stunt was in aid of the new Alton Tower’s ride, Wicker Man, and is certainly one of the bigger […]
We’ve had another busy year and gained some great new clients. So much so, that we realise we’ve neglected the website and blog over the past few months. We have also been busy working on a new website design, which will launch in the new year, and we have some great projects already booked in […]
Last weekend we popped down to Cody Dock in East London for the launch event of GaiaNova 360 Theatre. The event was put together by a couple of friends of Event Projection and has been several years in the making. Using a bespoke dome as a projection screen, with the audience sat underneath it, the […]
Can you believe we’re half way through the year already? Tomorrow is July, marking the start of the second half of the year. It really doesn’t seem like six months ago we were singing in the year after drinking far too much Prosecco and Whisky and getting emotional about Bowie and Prince. Again. But here […]
We have recently added to our large range of AV hire kit with our very own bespoke piece of equipment, designed by us, in-house. Nod-E, as it’s affectionately become known, is a cost effective node based alternative to centralised media servers. We designed it to manage and play back content in sync on multiple display screens […]
If you spend any time at all on Twitter, you’ll have noticed the newly trending hashtag #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek. We came across this beautiful and creative use of projection mapping and had to post it on our own blog. Pablo Valbuena has used the repeating patterns of tiles in architecture to create his work. The elegance is something that is rarely seen in big budget projection mapping projects but it’s a big step in the right direction. No doubt we’ll see this copied in the future. Watch the video and enjoy!

This fine example of experiential marketing caught our eye recently. What better way to off your new car than to get it on the streets of one of the biggest cities in the world? That’s exactly what BMW did with the aid of some digital trickery, some rear projection film and a couple of projectors.
Langarita–Navarro Arquitectos‘ rather splendid Led wall installation is relatively old news as it was installed in 2009 but it is a great example of how to combine architecture and technology.

The wide angle lens and various mounting accessories, plus waterproofing capabilities and a very robust design make them the ultimate adventure accessory. As the name suggests it gives everyone access to the kind of technology that, just a few years ago, was only available to professional filmmakers.
Xbox Kinect, if you didn’t know already, is the motion sensor plug-in for Microsoft’s all conquering Xbox 360 games console. The wireless webcam device is as good as it gets when it comes to video game (although ‘video game’ seems like an old school phrase now) interaction and beyond. Using an infrared laser projector and microchip for 3D motion tracking called ‘Light Coding’, the Kinect sensor creates a laser grid to calculate depth. The technology allows for gesture, facial and voice/ sound recognition. We’re certainly a long way from the days of Pong now…

If you haven’t yet seen Skyfall, the latest James Bond blockbuster, you might want to look away. Unfortunately, near the end of the film a Silver Birch Austin Martin DB5 – just like the one driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger – gets blown to smithereens. ‘No way!’ you cry. No, not really, it was in fact a 3D printed model of an Austin Martin DB5 and not the all-time classic Bond car. Phew…
Amon Tobin, Brazilian electronic musician, has just finished touring with his ISAM project, an audio-visual bombardment of the senses. Not your typical dance music gig, it’s a more cinematic approach to electronic beat performance. Ironic that Tobin once published the words: “f**k the visuals, we’re sinking every last penny into the sound-system” on his website.
Have you been wondering what to do with all those Lego bricks you ‘grew out of’ a few years ago? Well, before you put them on ebay, why not try building your own beat sequencer. By combining those little Danish bits of plastic with the DJ software Ableton Live, SoundMachine converts the colour information of the bricks to generate a synthesised beat.
Philips, the largest lighting manufacturer in the world, has a new wireless LED lighting system that can produce over 16 million colour variations. Not only are the LED bulbs controlled remotely via your wireless router, they are also energy saving. You can connect to 50 of these bulbs using a smartphone, tablet or web browser. Blinking heck!
Bicycles have been enjoying a real renaissance over the last few years and unless you’ve been living in the outback recently you’ll be aware of how much press the sport of road racing has been getting over what some term performance enhancing drugs. Well, we’re not too bothered about Louis Armstrong and whatever he got up to trying to get to the Moon and back. But we are rather intrigued by this little project: The Toyota Prius x Parlee concept Bike.
Over the years we have had some strange requests, we laughed at the time declared our client was mad and moved on. But now believe it or not technology has produced these items and has left us wondering else is possible?
Controlling the weather is something a lot of people in the UK wish they could do. A look out the window 9 times out of 10 will tell you how disappointing the forecast usually is. When the sun comes out it’s a mad dash to the park or any corner of an outdoor space to soak up those sunrays. We put up with more than our fair share of cloud, rain, cloud and rain. So why on earth would you want to create even more rain?
Holography, from the Greek words for “whole” and “writing/ drawing”, is the technique for creating three-dimensional images. Discovered accidentally by physicist Dennis Gabor in the 1940s, it was only when lasers developed in the 1960s that the first optical hologram was created. Using halogen-based photographic emulsions to record 3-D images on 2-D surfaces, in simple terms holograms split and stretch recorded light into 3-D shapes.
Auguste and Louis Lumière are the French brothers widely regarded as the creators of the moving image. Born two years apart, the brothers worked for their father’s photographic firm, developing still photography using the dry-plate process and then film perforations, which helped to move film through the camera and the projector.
Oktoberfest takes place in Germany this weekend and whilst many people will be making the ‘pils-grimage’ (get it?) to Germany for a good old beer fest in lederhosen, we’re going to enjoy our own beer-soaked celebrations a bit closer to home. It seems there’s microbreweries popping up all over the place in the UK right now and we thought it would be somewhat refreshing to recommended our top five craft-beer creators in the UK so you can enjoy your very own micro-October-fest.

Event Projection are to be the first UK hire company to take on Coemar’s new LEDko P Profiles. The new profile fixtures from Coemar are set to revolutionise lighting and are a major leap in LED technology. They are based around the classic ETC Source Four profile. In addition to Coemar’s own 18-40° lens tube, the units will also accept all exciting ETC Source Four optics. Event Projection have also placed an order for Coemar’s fresnel lens tube which makes these fixtures even more flexible. The output of the Coemar units is quite amazing, comparable to a 575w Source Four yet only pulling 150w. As a company that revolves around cutting edge equipment, the units fit our spec for any new kit and the LEDko lights are nothing short of ground breaking. We expect to take delivery of the units in early October and looking forward to some quick and easy installs with out the usual requirement for heavy power and dimmer racks.
On the 21 August, Event Projection installed a high-tech set for toy company Mattel to launch their new “Apptivity” toys, toy cars that interact with the company’s iPad apps. In addition to an 85″ plasma, a “Giant iPad” was created! The 10’x7′ iPad was built to scale for kids to play Mattels games by simply standing on it.
Directed my Matt and Jonny from Assembly agency in New Zealand, this is one hot video, hats off to you chaps.
Here at EP we’ve found ourselves getting carried away with the London 2012 Olympics. It’s hardly surprising considering how successful it’s been. To have the Games on home soil was not only exciting, it’s inspired the whole country.
